Italeri 7063 1:72 US M3A1 Spähpanzer
The White Motor Company began studying and developing the M3 in 1938 to provide the United States Army with an armoured reconnaissance vehicle. Equipped with a Hercules 6 cylinder JXD petrol 110 hp engine, it reached a maximum speed of 81 km/hour. Equipped with four drive wheels, it was used for missions such as patrolling, reconnaissance and commando sorties. The vehicle could carry 8 persons and was equipped with a Browning M2,12,7 mm machine gun on the sides and with 2 more Browning,7,7 mm. It was first used in 1941 during the campaign in the Philippines and subsequently in North Africa and Sicily. During the war, the M3 was replaced by the more modern M8 Greyhound for advanced research purposes. It found use not only in the American Army, but also in the British and French forces and in some sections of the Red Army, where it was used on the Eastern Front to tow the ZIS-3, 76 mm guns.
