The RSO/01 is another highlight in TAMIYA’s lineup of 1/35 scale models. The model features all-new TAMIYA injection-molded parts (the previous model, item no. 32404, still used parts from Italeri).

During World War II, the RSO was developed as a German tow vehicle to remain operational even under the most adverse conditions—such as heavy snowfall. A 70 PS V8 gasoline engine with a displacement of 3,517 cm³ and a 4-speed transmission were housed in the front section of the vehicle and drove the rear axle differential and the drive wheels via a propeller shaft.

The first production model, the RSO/01, featured a rounded cab made of pressed sheet steel. For use on poor road surfaces, 60-cm-wide snow chains could be fitted. Series production began in October 1942; starting the following spring, the floor of the RSO/01’s cab was raised by about 30 mm to prevent it from colliding with the snow chains. The RSO was used in a wide variety of applications, including as an artillery tractor and for transporting supplies.

Before you begin assembly, you should have read and understood all the instructions. If a child is assembling the model, a supervising adult should also have read the assembly instructions.

Tools, including knives, are used when assembling the kit. Extra caution is advised to prevent injuries.

If you encounter difficulties during assembly, ask an adult supervising the work, a model builder with RC experience, or a specialty retailer for assistance.

Always use tools only for their intended purpose. Improper use may result in injury.

If you use paints and/or adhesives (not included in the kit), read and follow the instructions provided with them.

Keep the kit out of the reach of small children. Prevent children from putting any parts in their mouths or pulling plastic bags over their heads.
