The BMW 318i STW body brings the silhouette of a touring car to RC modelling – with a body shape based on the saloon racer and a WB257 layout for a wheelbase of 257 mm. Supplied as an uncut body with no pre-drilled holes, the mounting pattern remains open for chassis-specific marking and cutting. This unmodified starting point is crucial during assembly. Body pillar openings can be positioned to suit the chosen platform, rather than adhering to a fixed drilling pattern. Wheel arches and lower edges can be trimmed to the desired final position. The polycarbonate construction adheres to the standard format for RC bodies, and the clear surface provides scope for a race-oriented paint scheme, race number graphics or a simple single-colour finish. As the body is supplied without pre-drilled holes, planning the pillar positions and cutting lines forms part of the actual assembly process. On the workbench, the BMW 318i STW mould gives a project an unmistakable touring car identity even before its first outing. Once painted and assembled, the long roofline, striking rear end and saloon proportions also make the body an attractive display piece between track outings.
